For most of his life, Warren has worked to make to world a better place by encouraging Australians to ride their bicycles for fun, fitness and for transport. Between 1977 and 1989 he published the national cycling magazine, Freewheeling and the popular mass cycling event, the Sydney to the Gong Bicycle Ride, which he gifted to the MS Society in 1993.
During a three-year period in the 1990s managing the peak cycling advocacy group, Bicycle NSW, he encouraged growth of the organisation through the development of major cycling events, such as the NSW Big Ride and Cycle Sydney and important advocacy initiatives.
In 1997 he established Sustainable Transport Consultants Pty Ltd to offer advice to public and private sectors based on his extensive experience in sustainable transport planning and design, policy development, business planning and management, staff and volunteer training, public advocacy, communications, marketing, publishing, management information systems and event management.
